Islington Square – Development Briefing & Tour « all news
We recently held a development briefing and tour of Islington Square, a prestigious new truly mixed use development, consisting of over four acres right in the heart of Islington, which is being developed by Sager Group and Cain International. First we heard from Richard Pilkington, MD, Cain International, who outlined the extent of the scheme, being the single largest piece of public realm in Islington, featuring 170,000 sq ft. of retail, a third space gym and 263 homes with 108 serviced apartments.
Nick Bark from CBRE, outlined how he is helping to create a destination for Islington Square and provide a holistic place, with special attention being paid to landscaping, public art, way finding and community events. Piers Gough, Partner at architects CZWG, outlined how his designs were retaining some of the Edwardian architecture, but also adding some signature striking curved facades. It is a conservation area and a several storey basement will hold a huge ‘cathedral’ of a gym.
The talks were followed by a fascinating tour of the scheme – where we looked around the central square and saw some of the new retail facades and apartments taking shape.
Can’t wait to visit when it completes in 2019 – in the interim the marketing suite with show apartments and huge model is worth a visit if you’re in the area.
There are still spaces for our Sugar House Island development tour in Stratford on 26 April – See here for details and booking.
