Well the simple answer to this question is a huge amount of development in the pipeline and increasing demand for available space. The latest event in the Profile ‘What’s Happening..’ series focussed on the South Bank area and was held at Howard Kennedy’s riverside office next to London Bridge.

The first speaker was Mark Anstey from Union Street Partners, who are spcecialist agents in the South Bank area. He talked about various schemes under construction and if there’s space available at the moment it typically lets very quickly – with 50% of space being let during construction. Emma Cariaga from British Land then gave an inside look at their upcoming Canada Water scheme, comprising 53 acres, which now has planning – pitched as a brand new town centre for London. The scheme on the Jubilee Line will feature 3,000 new homes and three major public places with extensive office space and retail. The first phase will be completed in 2023.

Finally Matthew Flood, Occupier Markets Director for Landsec, gave an fascinating overview of several schemes they are developing, which all embrace the distinctive character of the South Bank area. A huge thank you to our panel and to Howard Kennedy for hosting.
