London Residential Development update « all news
This week Colliers kindly hosted our London residential market seminar where we heard from three fascinating speakers on what’s happening in the market and key trends. First up was Collier’s Head of UK Residential, Ashley Osbourne, who gave an in-depth insight into the London market. He explained that nowadays residential property is an asset class in its own right and the participants in the market have changed. The huge supply issues in inner London mean that there won’t be a significant drop in prices in central London and that the Build to Rent market will continue to grow slowly.
Next up was Jonathan Seal, Managing Director of developer Regal London, who spoke about the fragmented process and disconnect between the GLA and the Mayor’s office. He also touched on the emergence of Build to Rent and the growth in mixed used residential schemes and the importance of forming partnerships. Finally Carolyn Jamieson, Associate Director at Peter Taylor Associates talked about the design challenges and trends for resi in the capital. They are seeing a lot more work in the outer London Boroughs and stressed the importance of understanding the demographic for the area to input into the design.
Thanks again to the Colliers team for hosting a fantastic event.
